A Message From Jonathan Miller
Once again, it is already that time of year where I ask for your assistance in support of an organization that is near and dear to me; Flower City Habitat for Humanity. Homeownership not only provides individuals with a roof over their head, but also strengthens families, encourages community engagement, improves neighborhoods, and develops social capital. Many people think our organization simply builds homes, but what we do is help families build strength, stability and self-reliance through shelter. Our impact continues long past when we turn the keys over. Despite the challenges of the past year, with the support of individuals, corporations, small businesses and other community organizations, Habitat was able to help 8 homebuyers achieve their dream of homeownership. In addition we supported over 200 families through the following: 45 home repairs, 132 children received backpacks full of school supplies, 144 Thanksgiving baskets were distributed, 191 children received holiday gifts, and 122 referrals were made to other social services. In addition, our families saved an average $150+ a month on their mortgage compared to the rent they previously paid. I ask that you assist me in raising valuable support to further our mission of building homeownership, communities & hope.
